Meet the Founder

Deirdre McGuone-Kiely, Emergency Cardiology ANP & PhD Scholar

With over 18 years of frontline experience in St James Hospital Emergency Department, Deirdre McGuone-Kiely saw firsthand the life-changing impact of people having heart attacks—often without warning and with lasting consequences. Driven by a deep commitment to prevention, she set out to shift the focus from reactive treatment to proactive care.

That’s why she founded CardiACT — with a mission to make prevention a priority and empower individuals to take charge of their heart health. Through early detection and comprehensive cardiac screenings, Deirdre aims to reach people before a heart attack happens—helping them stay informed, protected, and confident in their health journey.

Deirdre is also the recipient of the 2024 AIB and Network Ireland Emerging Dublin Business Woman of the Year, a testament to her leadership and passion for saving lives through innovation in cardiac care.

As an Emergency Cardiology Advanced Nurse Practitioner and PHD Scholar at Trinity College Dublin, she founded CardiACT to help to shift the dial towards keeping hearts healthy before patients experience a heart attack or stroke. Deirdre is also the recipient of the 2024 AIB and Network Ireland Emerging Dublin Business Woman of the Year, a testament to her leadership and passion for saving lives through innovation in cardiac care.
